An extremely rare silver opisometer or meilograph from the reign of King George V. Opisometers are desirable items, used mainly for measuring curved lines on maps such as roads and rivers. Rarely found in hallmarked silver, this particular example has a attaching loop to the top for a Albert chain or similiar. A superb and interesting collector's piece with a practical use.
Hallmarks :- Clear and readable.
Maker :- John Henry Hill (1917-26).
Date :- London C1920.

Length from attaching loop to scroll wheel :- 6.5 cms. Diameter :- 3.8 cms. Depth :- 1 cm.
Condition
Very good, with no dents or splits to the silver. Slight staining to the dial on one side at the top, both dials clear and readable. One face has a crack to the glass, which does not affect use and is commensurate with age and use.
